About MSP Center Plus

MSP Center Plus offers an integrated software for managed service providers to remotely monitor network devices, manage desktops and servers, handle helpdesk requests, and manage onsite visits effectively from a single integrated console.

Architecture
MSP Center Plus offers two different architectures of deployment. 1) Probe-central 2) Agent-central.

Probe-Central model
Probes enable remote monitoring. They discover the devices in the LAN, monitor them periodically, and communicate the data back with the central server over the internet (or VPN depending on your deployment) on a secure HTTPS connection. Data is compressed during the communication to ensure minimal bandwidth consumption. A single PROBE (software) installed in the customer LAN can monitor hundreds of devices.

Agent-Central Model
Agents enable dekstop management. An agent has to be installed on every managed Windows machine. Every agent communicates back to the central server using secure HTTPS connection.

Features
Following is the list of new features available in MSP Center Plus
  • Agent based remote desktop/server management
  • Remote monitoring of servers/desktops and networking devices
  • Service level agreement dashboard and reporting
  • Remote control
  • Helpdesk
  • Services Automation
  • Portal for customers
  • Patch management
  • Automated and periodic hardware/ software audit
  • Asset tracking
  • Software license management
  • Remote scripts execution
  • Software installation
  • Automated PC hard disk cleanup, temp files cleanup, recycle bin cleanup

Desktop management
Reduces on-site visits drastically. Agents, once installed in the managed servers/desktops, enable you to configure almost all desktop/ server settings remotely. Key features about this module are:
  • Harmless agents: These agents neither run as a service nor they occupy any ports. They function in a manner that is extremely harmless to the normal operation of the desktop/server. They wake up every 90 minutes and fetch commands from the central server. They execute the commands (if any) and then go back to passive mode.
  • 50+ out-of-the-box configurations: The list includes power management, firewall settings, registry settings, path, environment variable, internet explorer settings, user management, permission management and many more
  • Security policies: You may enforce security policies such as disable USB drives, disable CD drives, disable control panel etc for select laptops/ dekstops.
  • Install software and scripts: Silent install exe/ msi and scripts can be installed on remote desktops/ laptops.
Network monitoring
Enables availability monitoring of servers, routers, switches and all SNMP, WMI, Telnet enabled devices. Support for Windows, Linux, and all major networking devices. Key features of this module are:
  • Wider coverage for device types: Almost all known brands are supported out-of-the-box with option to monitor newer and custom device types using custom monitor option.
  • Default monitors for each device type: Based on device type few monitors are associated by default to enable base level monitoring immediately after device addition.
  • Google maps: Beautiful google maps display the location of probes and devices along with the status.
  • One-click alarm resolution/ handling: Its now easier to fix a problem right from the alarm page using the alarm actions option.
SLA management
Assume that customer A wants an SLA assuring 99.6% availability for all the servers month after month, failing which could result in a penalty. Now you can rely on the new SLA module. It enables you to group all the servers of customer A and set a SLA of 99.6%. Moreover you can set a threshold of 99.8% for the SLA so that you can save the SLA before the downtime goes beyond the agreed value. The SLA dashboard shows the SLA performance for the last 12 months and also lists the top problematic devices that affect the SLA.

Remote control
The central server hosts a remote control gateway which serves pages from end machines to the operator machine enabling remote control. Once remote controlled you can get full control of the machine as in VNC or other remote control tools.

HelpDesk
The helpdesk module can fetch e-mails (sent to support@yourcompanyname.com by your customers) and automatically convert them into requests. These requests can be then assigned to the appropriate technicians for resolution. Being web-based, the requests can be viewed by multiple teams such as operations team or the onsite technicians team or even the management. Key features of this module are:
  • Automatic email fetching and association - This is the most effective way of using helpdesk module. Just publish an email id to all your customers and then configure MSP Center Plus to fetch mails.
  • Conversation capture: See the entire email conversation between helpdesk and the customer on a single view.
  • Automatic acknowledgement: You can set auto acknowledgement for all emails received with a link pointing to the actual request page.
  • Customer satisfaction measuring module: You can run surveys on completion of a specified number of requests to measure the satisfaction level.

Services automation
Service Automation is useful if you send technicians on-site (to fix problems) and bill their time and expense. Its a bit tricky to streamline the schedules, communication, time entries etc when there are more customers and technicians.
Service Automation enables a clean handing over between customers, helpdesk, technicians, and management ensuring that no time spent is left un-billed.

Portal for customers
You can create login accounts for your customers and allow them to submit tickets online. They can also check the status of their tickets, see the device health etc.

Patch management
AdventNet maintains its own patch database which is compared with the scanned results of each device. Based on this information the list of missing patches are identified and displayed. Either you can turn-on the automatic patching to enable MSP Center Plus do the job or you can manually install select patches. Patch management can be performed only on those machines where agents are installed.

Hardware/ Software audit
Up-to-date report on the hardware and software installed in every machine across every customer can be obtained from MSP Center Plus. The agents report back all hardware/software information periodically to the central server.

Asset tracking
If you wish to be notified when a software or hardware is removed from the machines, simply turn-on the asset tracking feature. It emails you if it detects any change in the hardware or software installed in the machines.

Software license management
Identify usage of prohibited software across customers. Know whether the software used are in compliance with the licensing details. Measure the number of machines on which any particular software is installed.

Remote script execution
You can execute VB Script, JScript, Perl Script, and Python scripts on managed desktops and servers using the remote script module. The scripts can be executed during user logon, userlogoff, computer startup, and shutdown.

Software installation
You can install silent .exe files and .msi files using the installer.

Automated PC cleanup
You can automated a lot of periodic maintenance tasks such as cleanup temp files, run checkdisc etc.

Integration with other products

NetFlow Analyzer, another successful product of ManageEngine can be integrated with MSP Center Plus. NetFlow Analyzer is a bandwidth monitoring and network forensics tool that has been optimizing thousands of networks across varied industries for peak performance. It provides an in-depth visibility into network traffic and its patterns.
