Check for Traps

Probe receives event notifications/traps sent by the managed devices. Ensure that in the managed devices, the trap destination is configured as Probe. Probe listens for SNMP traps on the port 162 by default. Ensure that no other process is occupying the port.

Consider the following steps to check for traps, sent by the managed devices to the Probe.
  1. Ensure the device is in the managed state and SNMP enabled on it.
  2. Shutdown the Probe.
  3. Open MibBrowser.bat [<Probe home>\bin].
  4. Open the trap viewer [View-> Trap Viewer or Alt+P].

  5. Select Enable Logging option.
  6. Click on Start. The traps sent by the managed devices are displayed.
Probe, based on the traps received generates alerts. Traps that are not accessible by the probe are classified as unsolicited traps. However you can configure trap processor for converting the unsolicited traps into meaningful alerts.
