Desktop Management enables remote configurations that can be applied to users and computers of the Windows domain in the network. Configuring various settings such as patch installations, firewall settings, registry settings, MS Outlook, power management settings etc can be done. Also it is possible to apply templates to the computers. By clicking on Templates, User Configurations and Computer Configurations you can access the templates, user configurations and computer configurations.

Here the configurations that are created/added recently to the users or the computer will be listed. You can deploy, edit, delete, suspend or resume a configuration. To deploy click on , to edit click on modify icon , to delete click on delete icon , to suspend click on suspend icon and to resume click on resume icon .

By clicking on a configuration name or its status you can view the configuration details, execution status and target definitions in depth. From the configuration details page also it is possible to deploy, modify, suspend, resume or delete the configuration. Click on the buttons Deploy, Modify, Delete, Suspend or Resume inorder to perform the required action.

  • Export to PDF
  • Take printouts
Add Configuration
This option allows you to add any User Configuration or Computer Configuration. Click on any of the desired configuration to add to any Customer/user/group. To add configuration refer User Configurations or Computer configurations accordingly. To add configuration click on Add Configuration link.

Add Collection
This option allows you to add one or more configurations at a time. Click on User Collection or Computer Collection to select the desired configurations and add to any Customer/user/group. To add collection click on Add Collection link

Add Templates
This option allows you to add any template to any Customer/user/group. To add a template click on the desired template, click on Create from Template button, choose targets and click on Deploy. To add templates click on Add Templates link.

Export to PDF
Exports the list of configurations that are enabled, disabled, ready to deploy etc. into pdf format. To export to pdf format click on Export to PDF link.

Take print outs
To take print outs of the list of configurations that are enabled, disabled, ready to deploy etc. click on Printer Friendly link.

How the Configuration gets applied
Whenever a configuration is deployed, it will be made available to the Desktop Management Agents to apply the configurations in the client computers. The Desktop Management Agents residing at the client computers will pull the configuration details from the Server and process them. The Desktop Management Agents will contact the Server at the following intervals to pull the details:
  1. For user-specific configurations  - during user logon and every 90 minutes thereafter till the user logs out of the domain.

  2. For computer-specific configurations - during system startup and every 90 minutes thereafter till the system is shutdown.
