Configure Discovery CredentialsProbes access the devices using SNMP/CLI/WMI protocols. The credentials like password/SNMP community, port etc. may differ for different devices. With MSP Center Plus it is possible to configure common credentials and apply them to multiple devices at a single shot. Configuring credentials can be done before or after discovery.
To configure SNMP credentials before discovery, from Probe UI go to Admin and click on SNMP Parameters and follow the below steps.
- SNMP Port(s): Default SNMP port is 161. If the port is occupied by other service, then enter the number of the port(s) which are free.
- Community String: Enter the community string.
- SNMP Retries: This specifies how many times can the Probe send the SNMP queries to the devices before displaying Timeout.
- SNMP Timeout __ in second(s): If the time taken for the SNMP packets to hit the devices and return back to probe is greater the the time mentioned here, then Timeout is displayed.
- Click on Update.
To configure SNMP credentials after the device discovery is complete, from Central UI go to Admin and click on Quick Configuration Wizard and follow the below steps.
- Select Specify a common SNMP community string for several devices option.
- Click on Next.
- Enter the Community String and click on Next.
- Either click on Assign to all devices in the category or Manually group.

- Select the desired Category and click on Next.

- Click on Next.
- Select the devices from All Devices box and move to Devices to set the SNMP community string box.
- Click on Finish.
Configuring credentials for WMI/CLI type is possible only after the discovery process is completed. To configure credentials consider the following steps.
- From Central UI go to Admin and click on Quick Configuration Wizard.
- Select Specify a common Username and Password for Windows/Linux/Solaris devices.
- Click on Next.
- Select a Device type and enter the Username and Password.
- Click on Next.
- Select the devices from Devices for which the password details are not assigned box and move to Devices for which the password details are assigned box.
- Click on Finish.
