Whenever
alarms are generated it is not known to the users until he
checks for it. With Notification profiles whenever alarms are
generated, they will be notified to the administrators by any/all of the
following profiles. To create a notification profile go to Network Monitoring-> Admin-> Notification Profiles-> Add New.
Once you create a notification profile, associate it to the devices or probes. Unless you associate the notification profile to the devices, you will not be notified if any alarm is raised. Email Profiles The notification will be done via email. To add a new email profile click on mouse-over Add New and select Email Alert. Add new Email profile
Enter the Profile Name.
Enter the To and From Email Address.
Select the Subject and Message variables that has to be displayed as the subject and message of the email respectively.
Select the Criteria Options for which you want to receive an email alert.
Click on Save.
SMS Profiles The notification will done via SMS. The SMS can be sent via either service providers or modem. Click on Email based SMS to send SMS notifications via service providers and click on Modem based SMS to send SMS notifications via modem.
Email based SMS
Enter the Profile Name.
Enter the To and From Email Address.
Enter the details that you want to see in the message and/or you can select the message variables.
Configure the Criteria Options.
Click on Save.
Modem based SMS
Enter the profile name.
Enter the mobile number.
Enter the details that you want to see in the message and/or you can select the message variables. Note: If the alert exceeds 160 characters then the notification will be dispatched in two or more sms.
Configure the Criteria Options.
Click on Save.
Run System Command This
option helps you to automatically run system command whenever a fault
is identified in the device. For example with this profile you can
execute a netsend command to display popups on the user machines
whenever an alarm is generated. To configure this profile
Enter the profile name.
Enter the command string and also the arguments if any.
Select Err Append and Append to append the output and the error message on executing the command.
Configure the Criteria Options.
Click on Save.
Run Program This
option allows you to run a program whenever an alarm is generated, for
example playing a sound, program that correct the fault etc. To
configure this profile
Enter the profile name.
Enter the command name.
Enter the program arguments.
Configure the Criteria Options.
Click on Save.
Log a Ticket Whenever devices go down or become non responsive, a ticket is
automatically generated if they have this profile associated with them. Further, whom the ticket must be assigned to
is also optionally configurable. This cuts down an extra step required
to read alarms and consequently raise tickets, and also assign them
within the queues. To configure this profile
Enter the profile name.
Choose Category.
Choose Priority.
Choose Technician.
Enter and/or choose the variables that has to be displayed in the Title.
Enter and/or choose the variables that has to be displayed in the Description.
Configure the Criteria Options.
Click on Submit.
Associate to Probes With this option you can associate the desired notification profile to the probes.
First select the desired notification profile and click on Next.
Select the probes for which you want to associate the notification profile and click on Next.
Notification
Profile Results page opens. Check the result corresponding to the
probes for which you have associated the notification profiles.
Associate to Devices With this option you can associate the desired notification profile to the devices.
First select the desired notification profile and click on Next.
Select either Assign to all devices in the category or Manually group devices. Selecting Assign to all devices in the category will associate the notification profile to all the devices in the selected category. Selecting Manually group devices will associate the notification profile to all the desired devices.
If Assign to all devices in the category is selected, select the desired category and click on Next or if Manually group devices is selected click on Next and select the devices from the Devices for which the profile is not assigned box and move to the Devices for which the profile is assigned box and click on Finish.
Notification Profile Results page opens. Check the result corresponding
to the devices for which you have associated the notification profiles.
Another way to associate notification profiles to devices is by going to the device snapshot page-> Notification profiles-> Add Profile. Select the desired profile(s) and click on OK.
You can also edit and delete a notification profile. To edit click on edit icon and to delete click on delete icon .
