Secure Remote Monitoring

OpManager MSP edition uses a secure HTTPS connection between the probes and the central server.

Secure Remote Monitoring with OpManager MSP Edition

You need to install the MSP Edition central server at the network operations center (NOC), and install remote probes at each customer location. The remote probes collect status of devices in its location and communicates it to the central server.

Some Key Points:

  • SSL enebled communication layer between probes and central.
  • 128 bit encryption.
  • Probes auto-discovers and monitors devices.
  • Probe uploads data periodically(this is configurable, see the below step) to central.
  • Probe writes the data to the central server in every 30 secs interval(if WriteInterval="30" is set in CommunicationInfo.xml in Probe/conf folder).
  • Probe reads data from central in every 5 secs interval(if ReadInterval="5" is set in CommunicationInfo.xml in Probe/conf folder.).
  • Data is compressed before every upload to reduce bandwidth load.
  • Approx 2.83 MB data transferred per hour for 60polls/minute probe load.
