Stop Automatic Rediscovery

Tags:

When ever a network is discovered or a device is added, opmanager will add an entry of that network under discovered network. By default those networks will be scanned once in 14 days and the newly added IPaddresses will be discovered. This option is called rediscovery and it might add unwanted devices in OpManager.

We can disable automatic rediscovery option by editing a file called seed.file which is under /probe/conf. Open this file in a wordpad and go to the bottom of the file.
You can find the entry REDISCOVERY="true". Change this entry to false and restart the probe.

Delete the unwanted devices once and they will not get discovered again.

Note: Refrain from editing central's seed file. This will affect the central's database.
