Troubleshooting tips to Upgrade Probe

By default, the probe gets automatically upgraded once you upgrade the central. You no need to upgrade the probe manually unless the probe fails to upgrade automatically.

Steps to upgrade the Probe:

  1. Stop the Probe service.
  2. Ensure that no antivirus and online backup software are running.
  3. Start the Probe service in the command prompt using the command "Startdms.bat" [<Probe_home>\bin]. Now the upgrade process will get triggered. While upgrading it will Central build number and Probe build number.
  4. If the upgrade process is not triggered, then manually apply the ppm.

Steps to upgrade the Probe manually:

  1. Download the PPM which you want to apply. Click here to download the latest PPM 7200. Older PPMs are archived.
  2. Stop the Probe service.
  3. Ensure that no antivirus and online backup software are running.
  4. Execute the command "UpdateManager.bat" [<Probe_home>\bin]. 
  5. Click on Browse to locate and select the PPM file that you have downloaded.
  6. Click on Install to install the upgrade pack. Note: This may take some time depending on the data size. Wait till the upgrade is fully installed. Don't disturb the process in the middle.
  7. Click on Close to exit the UpdateManager once the upgrade is completed successfully.
  8. Start the Probe service.
  9. Check the build number.
