Upgrading MSP Center PlusBefore starting to upgrade first know in which build your are and then choose your Upgrade Path accordingly.
Choose your Upgrade Path
Instructions for upgrade path 1
- Download the 7101 ppm to the Central Server.
- Install the ppm on the Central Server.
Instructions for upgrade path 2
- Download 7002 ppm to the Central Server.
- The upgrade to 7002 build will automatically take a backup of the entire Central/Probe installation directories during the upgrade process itself. Hence make sure that you have enough disk space in your Central and Probe machines. Note: If you have saved the daily backups under the installation directories, then move them to a different location in-order to avoid them from being backed up.The whole
upgrade process may take a few hours depending on your installation
data size and the internet connectivity between the Central and Probe.Plan accordingly during off hours.
- Install the ppm on the Central Server alone and check whether both the Central and all the Probes have upgraded to build 7002.
- Ensure whether all the Probes have upgraded to 7002. Click here to troubleshoot if the Probes fail to upgrade.
- Follow upgrade path 1 to upgrade to build 7101.
Instructions for applying the
PPM Upgrade
- Shutdown the Central Server. Note: Install
the ppm only in the Central Server. Probes will automatically download the service pack from the Central Server and upgrade themselves. The Probes will restart on
their own, post upgrade.
- Make sure all the
processes are killed. Open "taskmanager" and check there are no
java, mysql process running. Also terminate if any anti-virus/backup software is running.
- Execute
UpdateManager.bat file present under <Central-Home>/bin folder.
- Click on Browse to locate and
select the PPM file that you have downloaded.
- Click on Install to
install the upgrade pack. Note: This may take some time depending on the data
size. Wait till the upgrade
is fully installed. Don't disturb the process in the middle.
- Click on Close to exit
the UpdateManager once the upgrade is completed successfully.
- Start the Central
Server.
- Verify the build number of the Central to ensure whether you have upgraded successfully to the latest build. The build number should be the latest build number what you have upgraded now.
- Once the Central is
upgraded to the latest build, the probes will automatically upgrade to
the latest build and will restart. If the probes fail to restart
automatically, go to the probe machine. Stop/kill the running probe process. Open TaskManager and make sure there are no java, mysql process running. Then restart probe service manually to complete the upgrade
process.
- Verify the build number of the Probe to ensure whether you have upgraded successfully to the latest build. The build number should be the latest build number what you have upgraded now. Click here to troubleshoot if the Probes fail to upgrade.
- Once all the Probes have upgraded to the latest build, restart the Central.

Login to the Central or Probe
client and click the About link in the top pane. You will find the
build number mentioned here.
